Norwegian Technology in partnership with Henriksen Oljetransport, www.henriksenolje.no, owns and operates the Stavanger Slop, www.slop.no, wastewater treatment plant in Mekjarvik, Stavanger
About us
Stavanger Slop receives and treats oily water and other contaminated wastewaters. The wastewater treatment plant in Mekjarvik, outside Stavanger, is equipped with six tanks for a total capacity of 4.500 m3 and a modern biological treatment plant. Stavanger Slop handles also other types of hazardous waste.
Stavanger Slop holds all the required licenses issued by the Environmental Agency, the Directorate for Civil Protection and Emergency Planning (DSB) and the County Department of Environmental Affairs.
Stavanger Slop’s port comply with IMO Guidance for Port Reception Facilities and MARPOL 73/78 conventions.

Services
Wastewater treatment
The water is treated in a biological treatment plant, where bacteria ingest the hydrocarbons dissolved in the water. Air, heat and nutrients are feed into the bioreactor to establish the favorable environment for bacteria. Dead bacteria turn into sludge, which can be discarded.
Oily water treatment
This waste has waste substance number 7030 and can be divided into different types:
• Oil emulsions, water slop, EWL 16 50 71,
• Oil emulsions (stable), EWL 13 08 02,
• Oily waste, EWL 16 07 08,
• Tanker Bottom Water, EWL 13 04 00,
• Water slop, EWL 13 04 00.
This waste is not subject to ADR regulations.
Treatment of other hazardous waste
The hazardous waste regulation defines hazardous waste as ”the waste that cannot be handled together with municipal waste, because it can cause serious pollution or risk of injury to people and animals”.
Examples of hazardous waste: Chemicals, Paints, Varnishes and glues, Waste oil, Oilseed rags, filters etc., Aerosols, Pesticides, Packages with residual waste, Sealed double glazing with PCBs (1965 to 1975), Mercury Thermometers, Solvents as linseed oil, acetone, white-spirit, etc., WEEE, waste electrical and electronic equipment.
Treatment of water soluble solvents
Stavanger Slop handles also wastewater containing small amounts of methanol, ethanol, propanol and other water-soluble solvents. This type of waste is defined as organic solvents without halogen and waste substance number 7042.

Norwegian Technology provides its new and unique water treatment chemicals, N-SEP 438 to IVAR’s Municipal Waste Water Treatment Plant at Grødaland.
The project started as consultancy and evolved into a Service and Supply Agreement. The Grødaland plant, built and operated by IVAR treats yearly150,000 pe (person equivalent). The mechanical separation is dissolved air flotation for suspended solids followed by biological treatment (SBR)
The N-SEP 438 chemicals provide excellent coagulation, flocculation for separation of SS in the dissolved air flotation unit. The sludge produced contains higher organic carbon fraction compared to sludge produced from adding metal salts or lime and is therefore ideal for their biogas production.
The N-SEP products works with sewage, industrial and food waste water. It simplifies operations, reduce investment cost and increases separation degree (suspended solids) in new and existing treatment pants; Sedimentation, Flotation or Filtration.
